Intern and Resident Information System (IRIS) Proxy

The IRIS is used by the teaching hospitals and it contains information about the interns and residents; rotational assignments; years completed in residency. This information is to be completed and turned in with the Medicare Cost Report (MCR.)

Did You Know?
  • The IRIS proxy was created in 2003 for CHGME providers that are No and Low Utilization filers and therefore not required by CMS to submit an IRIS with their Medicare Cost Report (MCR).
  • It is a free program which operates on Excel software and is available to all CHGME providers.
  • Full MCR filers can also utilize the IRIS Proxy since it creates a Master (M) and Assignment (A) file, similar to the IRIS V3 software.
  • The IRIS Proxy can calculate both the total Unweighted and Weighted Resident FTE Counts.
