Applicant Information Bulletin: School Year 2009-2010
The Application Process

The Application Checklist in the Forms section of this Bulletin lists every item that must be submitted for an application to be considered complete and is provided to assist applicants in reviewing the completeness of their application.  Please note that you must use the current (Fiscal Year 2009) application cycle forms from this Bulletin.

Individuals applying for FLRP are required to submit the application and their banking information electronically and print the “BCRSIS Receipt of Submission” by July 7, 2009, 5:00 p.m. ET.   All other items on the Checklist, including a signed hard copy of the electronic application and a hard copy of the “BCRSIS Receipt of Submission”, must be postmarked not later than July 7, 2009, and mailed to the Faculty Loan Repayment Program, 5600 Fishers Lane, Room 8-37, Rockville, Maryland 20857.

FLRP awards will be made to qualified applicants according to the administrative funding preferences.  Qualified applicants working full-time at the employing institution will be funded first.  Qualified applicants working part-time at the employing institution will be funded second and will be funded at a reduced level, based on the percentage of hours he/she is employed per week. 

I.  Award Information

Applicants will receive notification regarding their selection (or non-selection) for a FLRP award.  The FLRP contract becomes effective once signed by the HHS Secretary or his/her designee.  The service obligation commences on the date the FLRP is countersigned by the Secretary or his/her designee or on the faculty member’s employment start date, whichever is later.  A participant will not receive service credit for employment at the college or university before the effective date of his/her FLRP contract.  The dates of the service obligation are identified in the award letter.  A copy of the countersigned 2-year FLRP contract will be sent to each awardee.

Anticipated Award Announcement:  July through September 30, 2009.
