The purpose of the Comprehensive Geriatric Education Program (CGEP) is to provide training to individuals who care for older adults, develop and disseminate curricula relating to the treatment of health problems of older adults, train faculty members in geriatrics, provide continuing education to individuals who provide geriatric care, and establish traineeships for individuals who are preparing for advanced education nursing degrees in geriatric nursing, long-term care, gero-psychiatric nursing or other nursing areas that specialize in the care of the elderly population.
Eligible applicants are schools of nursing, health care facilities, programs leading to a certification as a certified nurse assistant and partnerships of such programs and health care facilities or health care facilities and schools of nursing.
