The purpose of the Physician Faculty Development in Primary Care program is to support projects that plan, develop, and operate a program that prepare physicians who plan to teach in family medicine, general internal medicine, or general pediatrics training programs (or combinations of these disciplines) or teach in community-based settings. This program can provide financial assistance through traineeships and fellowships for physicians that are participating in these programs and plan to teach or conduct research in a family medicine, general internal medicine, or general pediatrics training program (or combinations of these disciplines).
Eligible entities include accredited public or nonprofit private hospitals, schools of allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine, or a public or private non-profit entity which the Secretary has determined is capable of carrying out such grant.
