The Delaware Health Care Commission recently completed a study
of the nursing shortage in Delaware, its impact on access, costs
and quality, the factors contributing to the shortage, and recommendations
to address it. The report, Solving the Nursing Shortage in Delaware,
was released in March of 2002. The Commission formed a special
committee to implement select recommendations from the report.
The implementation committee began meeting in September 2002.

Loan Repayment
- The Delaware
State Loan Repayment Program provides awards to physicians and
dentists to work in underserved communities throughout the state.

Institute of Medical Education and Research (DIMER) Loan Program
offers loan repayment to dental or medical students in training
at Jefferson Medical College in exchange for practice in primary
care in Delaware upon completion of training.

Institute for Dental Education and Research (DIDER) supports the
dental general practice residency program at the Christiana Care
Wilmington Hospital Health Center Dental Office.
