The goal of this funding opportunity is to establish a Health Workforce Research Center that will focus on topics related to the behavioral health care workforce in the U.S., including professionals and paraprofessionals who provide substance abuse prevention, substance abuse treatment, and/or mental health services. When substantively appropriate, the HWRC will have an additional focus on the behavioral health care workforce in underserved areas and communities, diversity in the behavioral health care workforce, and team-based care in behavioral health.
The Health Workforce Research Center grant program provides funds to workforce research centers at six universities:
The Health Workforce Research Center program supports high quality, impartial, policy-relevant research on the health workforce to assist decision-makers at the Federal, State and local levels to better understand health workforce needs.
The six funded centers collect, analyze and report health workforce data that answer the question: What health care workforce is adequate to ensure access to high quality, efficient health care for the U.S. population?
The technical assistance-focused center supports States, local/regional entities and others in the collection, analysis and reporting of health workforce data.
