Release Date, Submission Due Dates, Application and Reporting
Eligibility, Budget, Use of Funds
1. When do you anticipate that the funding opportunity for AENT will be released and when do you expect that applications will be due?
For FY 2012, we anticipate the AENT funding opportunity will be released by early January, 2012, with the applications due between 45-60 days after the release date. You may want to sign up for notification at: http://www.hrsa.gov/grants/index.html.
2. Will the submission process still be in two application phases?
Yes, applicants will still be required to submit in two phases.
3. Will data about students who have received AENT funding for the past year be required in the FY 2012application?
Yes, data demonstrating past performance will be required.
4. Will the data required in the FY 2012 application be similar to past years if the formula system is no longer in place?
Yes, the majority of the required data will be the same, but additional information will now be required.
5. Will the reporting requirements change?
Yes, new reporting requirements include a Final Report (due within 90 days after the project period ends) and a Progress Report which includes the BHPr Performance Measures. Other reports may also be required.
6. What programs are eligible for AENT traineeships in FY 2012?
Programs preparing new primary care NPs and nurse midwives are eligible for traineeship support. Such programs include MSN, RN-to-MSN, Post-BSN-to-DNP, and Post-BSN to PhD programs. In addition, post-nursing master’s certificate programs in primary care are eligible.
7. Are first-year nurse anesthesia students eligible for AENT traineeships?
Starting in FY 2012, both first and second year NAT students will be supported with NAT funding.
8. Are projects focused on goals other than primary care advanced practice, such as nursing administration or clinical nurse leader, eligible for AENT traineeships?
No, only students preparing to become primary care NPs or nurse-midwives are eligible.
9. How do you define primary care NP?
Primary care NP programs include adult, pediatric geriatric adult-geriatric, family, psychiatric-mental health, and women’s health NPs.
10. How are full-time and part-time being defined?
The definitions of full-time and part-time are determined by the school.
11. How can AENT funds be used?
Traineeship funds may be used for tuition and fees, required textbooks, and the reasonable living expense of the trainee.
12. How will the individual award amounts be determined if awards are not formula-based?
All eligible applications will go through a formal and independent objective review where the submitted budget will be reviewed for reasonableness and allowable costs.
13. Is the $350,000 cap per school, per year, or for the two year period?
Applicants may request up to $350,000 for each year.
14. How are the stipend amounts determined for students?
Students enrolled full-time may receive stipend amounts up to $22,000 per year for two years and students enrolled part-time may receive $11,000 per year for three years. Stipends may be pro-rated by the school based on need.
